- CIA World Factbook: China - From the United States Central Intelligence Agency. Updated weekly, the CIA World Facebook provides basic information about China, including history, people, government, economy, geography, communications, transportation, military, and transnational issues. Includes limited multimedia resources like maps, a picture of the Chinese flag, and photos of China.
- World Health Organization: China - Includes basic health data and statistics for the People's Republic of China, as well as information on disease outbreaks and emergencies.
- BBC News Country Profiles: China - This site, compiled and maintained by the British Broadcasting Company, provides a basic overview of key historical and cultural information, as well as information on China's leaders and media outlets.
- BBC News: Changing China - Also maintained by the British Broadcasting Company, this site contains news stories about emerging issues in modern China.
- China on the Net - A list of links collected specifically for people using the Internet to research China. Topics include: China background, touring, News, Culture, Religion, Arts, Business, Human Rights, Environment, Neighbors, Leaders, and the Olympics.
- Understanding Modern China - A bibliography for finding resources on modern China, including films, books, and websites. Additional resources for topics such as women in China, the Cultural Revolution, Tiananmen Square, Chinese literature and China in the news. There are also resources specifically for educators, such as a list of curriculum units and resources specifically for teaching about China in middle schools and elementary schools.
