- Asia for Educators- From Columbia University, this site contains information about Asia for all levels of teachers and educators. The majority of the site is organized by time period (including the 21st century) and resources include timelines, central themes and key points, primary sources, lesson plans, recommended print and video resources, and many elementary-level resources. Be sure to view their resources on culture. This is a fabulous site, but it seems to be a little finicky with regard to the various browsers - accessing it through Mozilla Firefox worked really well.
- Foreign Teachers Guide to Living and Working in China - A site compiled by a team of American and Chinese educators as a guide for teachers who are living and teaching in China. The majority of the site is a free ebook which includes 39 chapters about teaching in China, and 35 chapters about understanding life in China, including issues like culture and social etiquette, friendships, dating and marriage, transportation, banking, shopping, and healthcare.
- Modern China for Middle/Elementary School- Bibliography of books and films for teaching about modern China in middle schools and elementary schools.
- China Mirror - Through reading and analyzing case studies, "China Mirror" is an opportunity for teachers and students to separate history from the "hype" surrounding years of Western study of China. (Password required and available upon request - see the site's homepage)
- Asia Society For Students - Articles and games geared towards helping students better understand life in Asia. This site includes information about international careers and current global topics.
- Asia Society Resources for Schools - Asia-related articles, lesson plans, and professional development learning opportunities for elementary and secondary school teachers and administrators.
- Asia for Elementary Students and Teachers - A list of websites dedicated to resources for learning about the Asian continent in general, as well as specific countries (including China), geared towards elementary-aged students and their teachers.
- China Box- From Indiana University - “China Box is a tool that teachers can use to introduce students to Chinese language and culture. We obtained the artifacts in the box during two trips to different parts of China. Through these cultural objects, students can see, feel, and experience Chinese culture." Boxes are available to introduces students to: going to school in China, Chinese games, daily life in China, and Chinese New Year.
